A well-maintained garage door lasts longer and operates more safely. Maryland weather — humidity, freeze-thaw cycles, and temperature swings — affects springs, weather seals, and lubricants.
Recommended schedule
- Every 6–12 months: Visual inspection of springs, cables, rollers, and tracks. Lubricate hinges, rollers, and springs with a garage-door-safe lubricant.
- Annually: Test balance (disconnect opener and lift door by hand — it should stay roughly halfway). Check weather seals and safety reverse.
- As needed: After storms, impacts, or if you notice noise, sticking, or slow operation.
What we check during a service visit
Tracks and rollers, spring condition and balance, cable integrity, opener force and sensors, remote/keypad function, and weather sealing.
Regular service is far cheaper than emergency spring or opener replacement. Schedule a tune-up by calling (410) 247-4567.
